This is very significant area not only in Mongolia, but also In the world. It is one of two eco zones in Mongolia belonging to 200 eco zones in the world. This area is humidly steppe with many rivers, lakes and swamps, and many species of migratory birds from Asia to Arctic and also lots of birds from warm-climate countries come here to spend summers and lay eggs. Over  90 bigger and smaller lakes are here including Khuh, Galuut , Angir, Ikh Davst, Duruu, Chuh, Khaichiin Yagaan, Bust, Galuutain and Khukh  Nudnii lakes. The Darkhad Valley is a big tectonic depression, nestled between Khoridol Saridag Range and Ulaan Taiga Range. The depression is 15 km long and it covers an area of 4400 sq.km The North side of the depression is 30-40 km wide and south side is 10-15 km wide. Its altitude is approximately 1500 m lower than the surrounding mountains. This is the Western most one of the three depressions in Khuvsgul. The landscape of the depression is completely different from the surrounding mountains Ulaan Taiga, Soyonii Mountains and Khoridol Saridag Range. This even steppe is inclined from east to west. Ongon sand massif, covers 127 sq.km area on the steppe of Dariganga, is 35 km away to the east of Bayandelger soum centre, 37 km away to the north west of Ongon soum centre. The sand is on a hard surface isolating water, therefore, there are many springs and small lakes as well as some wells. Five springs namely East spring. Middle spring (9 km long) Deep spring (5 km). Mongol sand covers an area of 2742 sq.km from the west shore of the Zavkhan River until Borkh and Sulin Adag sands. The bottom parts of the sand moves easily because the sand dunes have very little plants. Black beach grass and sand wormwoods dominate this area as well as some wormwoods and white wickers. Animals like the fox, mask deer, rabbit, pallas's sandgrouse, tomtit, owl, lizard, black beetle and ant inhabit the area around the edge of the sand although not in the middle. In the middle of Mongol sand is Tsunkheg sand dune. Ikh Duut dune singing and Baga Duut sand dunes are to the south.

These sands are 80 km long and have quite a lot of plants. Its north part Is made up of hillocks with small hollows. Movement In the sand is not seen here due to the thick plants. The west part of the sands is on clay deposit white the central and east parts are on granite surface. The granite surface is a guarantee that the sand is not older than the volcanoes of Dariganga. There are some bushy and woody plants like elm, wicker, star anise and beach grass, and also some animals like mouse, marmot, souslik, fox, mask deer, rabbit and Wolf Mongolian gazelle.

The Budreg Del sand Is the northernmost sand massif, not only In Mongolia, but the world and It Is 180 km In length and 40-45 km wide. The sand massif covers the area from the south shore of Uvs Lake to the Tes River, In western Mongolia. The north edge of the sand Is the south bank of the Nariinii River. Buurug Del Els sand covers an area of 3800 square km and it is recognized as the biggest In Mongolia. It equals 23.1 % of the total sand of the Great Lakes Basin. This Nature Reserve is located in 20 km north west of Khatanbulag soum of Domogobi province. North side of the range is very straight. The range is popular, not only in Mongolia but also in the world, with thick sedimentary deposits of ancient sea ancient bio residues. Ergeliin Zoo is high land covered by deposits with finds of ancient and extinct mammal fish, turtles and lizards. Local people have been worshipping this area since early times and

Altain Uvur Gobi covers an area over 800 km including Northern Baitag Bogd, Aj Bogd and Edren mountain ranges and Eastern part of Ingen Khuuvriin Khotgor to the east.
